  • Overview

    Summary: The Quality Analyst (“QA”) will ensure the technology solutions and functionality are fit for business purpose and meet the needs of our policyholders, agents and internal partners.  The QA will primarily be responsible for executing test procedures and performing other validations to evaluate the functionality of UPC’s applications.  Test procedures are designed to validate connectivity to our third parties and functionality of the core insurance applications, Policy, Billing, Claims and Marketing applications.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Create/execute clear, concise and detail-oriented test plans for functional testing, regression testing and user-acceptance testing
    • Ability to understand and create test plans from business requirements, specifications or verbal communications
    • Maintain test cases to ensure they reflect the current system behavior and to reduce the need to clarifications with the development team or business partners
    • Assist in incorporate the quality assurance discipline to UPC deliverables
    • Evaluate, improve and document testing processes and procedures
    • Help in creating standardized quality processes including test plan development, test documentation, test metrics, best practices and reporting & visibility for overall quality of our systems
    • Assist our business partners with UAT by supplying test coverage and results information, facilitating demonstrations of the updated functionality and when necessary, representing the business in conducting UAT scenarios and facilitating sign-off

    Qualifications

    Required Skills:

    • Understanding of Underwriting Principles, Regulatory Compliance, and Best Practices of delivering products and services of P&C products.
    • Working knowledge of business systems and software including understanding how Information Technology can be leveraged in the P&C industry.
    • Understanding the lifecycle of P&C insurance to assist in testing various applications and functions throughout the process.
    • Understanding of software testing lifecycle, including but not limited to;
      • Writing test cases based on business and functional requirements
      • Executing test cases, submitting them as pass or fail, logging and triaging defects
      • Closing out test cases and defects and maintaining test suites as changes are implemented to production 

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree desired
    • ISTQB certification or equivalent industry certifications or education
    • Relevant work experience related to quality analysis and system testing
    • Five or more years (5+) of Quality Analyst experience, preferably in software development
    • Five or more years (5+) of P&C experience, preferably property insurance
    • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced team oriented environment

    Environmental Demands: The duties of this position are typically performed in an office setting.  There may be some minimal road and air travel involved.

     

    Physical Requirements: This position requires minimal physical exertion.  However, in order to properly perform the functions of the job, good speaking and hearing skills are required. 

     

    Mental Requirements: Skills necessary for the effective performance of this position’s job functions include: decision-making and analytical abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, effective problem-solving, oral and written communication capabilities, ability to fully utilize computers and computer programs.
