Treasury Analyst (Unclaimed Property)

Summary:  The Treasury Analyst (Unclaimed Property) supports Finance by performing compliance-driven activities such as facilitating the unclaimed property and escheatment processes, 1099 reporting, and executing corporate garnishments, court orders and IRS and State-mandated levies.  Monitors predefined compliance functions of the Treasury department and ensures all related matters are handled timely and accurately. Assists with research needed to resolve outstanding issues.  The Treasury Analyst (Unclaimed Property) will also be responsible for processing banking and cash transactions and will participate in projects and initiatives involving data analysis and forecasting.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Process and monitor escheatment filings with states and conduct property owner outreach in compliance with unclaimed property requirements
  • Request and prepare files for all stages of escheatment cycles
  • Maintain strict timelines according to state due dates
  • Ability to work with and communicate to third-party vendors, operational teams and Accounting department
  • Complete detailed research on outstanding checks
  • Produce and maintain escheatment metrics, reporting and scorecards
  • Assist with external unclaimed property/escheatment audits and internal department audits
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data sourced from various systems
  • Cleanse and validate payment data and prepare 1099 filings to the IRS
  • Process IRS levies and state or court ordered corporate garnishments from UPC payment beneficiaries as they arise
  • Maintain system of tracking of any payee funds redirected through levies or garnishment orders
  • Assist in managing vendor performance and ensuring quality and accuracy of the vendor's work
  • Initiate electronic payments on behalf Treasury through the banking portals or disbursement systems
  • Ensure all journal entries are captured timely and are appropriately supported and accurate
  • Assist in identification of process improvements
  • Assist Sr. Treasury Analyst and Director of Treasury Services with projects and reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • College degree preferred or equivalent related experience
  • 1 - 2 years of unclaimed property experience, or similar compliance experience, within insurance industry preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products. Strong Excel and Word skills desired
  • Team-oriented, with excellent relationship building and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail
  • Strong data analysis and research skills
